Jasmina Kotorac – Reflexology

Jasmina Kotorac – Reflexology

Jasmina Kotorac

Her professional career started in Croatia working as a Physiotherapist, but since coming to Melbourne in 1981, she worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant in Rehabilitation Hospital for over 15 years, living her passion in looking after and caring for people of all ages that were facing different health challenges and issues in neurology, orthopedics and rheumatology.

She discovered benefits of reflexology when she was introduced to it some years ago, searching for a natural way to try to cope with her menopausal symptoms; insomnia, night sweats, hot flushes, to name the few. Thrilled with the results that she got from reflexology treatments, she decided to make reflexology her career, wanting to help other women who are either already dealing with or about to face the same issues.

Women’s health has always been one of her main interests, but since graduating, her focus and interest has broadened to any stress related causing issues, depression, anxiety, hormonal imbalance, sleep disturbances and digestive issues.

The last few years has seen Reflexology growing in popularity as an effective, safe, non- invasive and natural complimentary therapy which works well in conjunction with other holistic therapies and medical treatments.

Jasmina’s main goal is to work alongside the Clinic’s practitioners and support their clients in achieving their individual optimal level of health and wellbeing in the most natural and incredibly relaxing way. When body and mind experience a deep level of relaxation and stillness, this in turn encourages and assists body’s healing ability. A fresh and rejuvenated mind is able to function better, focus, decision making becomes easier, level of pain decreases and you are able to cope with everyday challenges.

Jasmina practices the traditional Ingham Foot Reflexology method where all the body systems are worked on the feet by applying pressure on reflexes using specific techniques. Through this, a deep relaxation, improved circulation and nerve innervation can be achieved, helping the body to re- balance and achieve healing and wellbeing in a relaxing, rejuvenating and therapeutic way.

She holds a post-grad diploma in Facial Reflexology (Sorensensistem TM), a specialized therapy which combines reflexology, acupressure and neurology. Based on a Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory, Facial Reflexology uses different stimulation techniques that work through central nervous system, meridians and acupressure points on face and head to facilitate and balance the work of glands/ hormones/ emotions. The aim is always to work towards addressing the cause of the issue and it is a great supporting modality to other natural/ holistic therapies.

Jasmina is a certified in Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (Sally Kay) which she incorporates in most of the treatments, depending on an individual need, ie. clients with autoimmune conditions or as a general help with detox.

She is currently completing a certificate in Fertility and Reproductive Reflexology (Barbara Scott), an evidence based reflexology treatment program designed to address and support clients in their pre- conceptual care either wanting to conceive naturally or support clients through an assisted conception (in which case the protocols are used to enhance the efficacy of drugs used). Each treatment is individually structured and prescriptive protocols and techniques are used. As well as conception, this specialized therapy program can address the wide range of reproductive issues in both women and men and it is a great addition to other natural/ holistic therapies.

She considers continuing education a very important part of her practice; as a professional member of RAoA (Reflexology Association of Australia) and The ARR (Association of Reproductive Reflexologists), she is regularly attending most educational workshops, meetings, seminars and conferences to keep her updated in the latest techniques and findings.

She values the importance of giving back to the community- being involved in voluntary programs (Royal Melbourne Hospital, Oncology ward in Epworth Hospital)
